Trinity Lutheran Congregation is the only remaining Christian congregation located in Cedar-Riverside, a central Minneapolis community of more than 7,500 people. Trinity is originally a Norwegian immigrant Lutheran church, with roots in the Lutheran Free Church. Our theology is solidly Lutheran. Our new immigrant members are largely from Mekane Yesus, the Lutheran Church in Ethiopia.
As Christ’s presence in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood and the Church Without Walls, Trinity is working to be one as the Body of Christ crossing many barriers especially those of language, country of origin, tribe and skin color. As part of our efforts to transform our faith community, Trinity called Alemseged Hagos as Associate Pastor in 2004. Since then we have welcomed more than 35 members from East Africa, primarily Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Trinity is a rich place for learning about other cultures and how to be together as Christ’s Body in the midst of diversity.
